Early one christmas morning
ever so long ago
the brightest of stars in heaven
shawn down on the earth below

Sheperds and wise men together
offer their treasures is told
and yet there was one so humble
who gave me no silver nor gold

I'm just a lonely sheperdboy
no earthly riches have I
but the love and devotion I give thee
will last in the waters run by

The treasures of sheperd and wise men
ashes to ashes are gone
the gift of the poor unknown sheperdboy
in the spirit of christmas lives on
